If they want to ding somebody then they shouldn't wait till Dec 16th to do so. IMO, the wait/anxiety is worse than depression. I am at the verge of getting a heart attack every time I log in to check the application status. And it's not even for final decision! But the worst thing is it's keep getting worse every day.

Does anyone know the next date, the interview invites will be released?

it could be every day or any other day etc. last week someone got invite like tuesday then someone say friday or something. this week someone got it monday so anything goes. They do it in batches and the app gets viewed by multiple people so who knows? but i do agree if getting dinged might as well tell me instead of saving it till december and ruin my xmas

Does anybody know anything about the "exclude" button in the letter of recommendation section of Yale SOM's online application? If your letter writer submitted a letter in haste and committed an error, or if he or she did so before consulting with you, can you "exclude" their letter and solicit one from an alternative recommender? Do you think this would show up on your application profile or in any way adversely affect your application?

I just realize that the letters are very important and I don't want to let the mistake of a letter writer jeopardize an otherwise well thought-out and assiduously completed application.

Thanks for any help.

How do you know there was an error in the recommendation? You may need to have the school delete it but if anything it might raise questions as to how you know the contents of the letter.

Just call the school tomorrow, explain your recommender mentioned that he/she submitted prematurely, and ask what he/she needs to do next. If you can, have your recommender make the call and it will take you out of the question entirely, but I don't think its unreasonable for you to call in an attempt to make the process easier for your recommender.

I know because I received an email from SOM informing me that the letter had been submitted. This before I ever met with the writer to brief her on the writing of such a letter. I am confident that she did her best, but that her letter will not be as helpful as one from someone who better understood what an effective letter is. I contacted her; she did in fact submit the letter; she did so because she lost the email I had sent her which contained submission deadlines and she panicked.

No foul play by any means. Just a mistake that I'd like to correct before it affects my application.

One of my recommenders submitted within an hour of the notification email and I panicked as well. Then he read to me what he submitted and I couldn't have asked for anything better. So it might be worth considering what she wrote before you rush to get her excluded and raise adcom's concerns. From what I've read adcoms value the recommenders candid personal impressions of you even if they haven't been formally coached what to concentrate on. Good luck!
P.S. Someone had a similar question on the discussion board, only the recommender hadn't submitted but the student wanted to exclude him because he wasn't willing to provide a rec anymore and the adcom person advised to contact a person in admissions with the matter.

Is this R1? Either way you need to notify admissions. You might be screwed if it's for R1. I know Yale SOM will work with you whenever possible so you might be in luck.

Congratulations! :-D

Good luck to rest of you guys! (Did I mention that last year, people received interview on Thanksgiving day? It's still early so don't lose hope)

P.S. - I love how everyone is pitching in this thread to answer questions for one another. You guys are born to attend YSOM.

hey guys quick question - I took the GMAT in 2006, since then the percentiles of Q and V have been all over the place, which percentiles should I put in a slef-reported application - the original percentiles or the most current ones that I know of?
Thanks

I've always just put the original. I wasn't aware the percentiles changed that much? :?:

I would be slightly careful with putting down the original percentiles. I took the GMAT twice too, and the second time I took it the Q moved down by a percentage point, and my latest official GMAT scorecard reflected that new percentile on the old score. Since they'll be getting that official scorecard ultimately, I'd make sure that whatever says on it is matched in my application. Easy way to check is to send your GMAT score to Yale, and GMAT.com will send you a student copy of what they sent to the school.

I hope you're right. My subconscious seems to agree with you -- a couple nights ago I had a dream that I was networking at the Yale Club in NYC (apparently trying to follow in your foot steps).

I only had guts to go after I was invited by my fiancee's former boss (Yale undergrad and Yale Law alum) after he found out I was accepted to YSOM.

Regardless to say, the pre-MBA internship I got through that networking got me the interviews with some fancy employers in the past year. (Although my original goal of getting a job in Silicon Valley is now ..... "put on hold", I can't complain....)

Plus, something else to look forward to after getting admitted to YSOM:

Some schools only have admitted students wknd and other cocktail events.....but at YSOM, they really give you a personal attention and care. Some of the most prominent YSOM alums will invite you to either their mansions (yes, some own mansions...), fancy restaurants, etc for private dinner and cocktail events....

YSOM can do that because they keep the class size small and allocate a lot of resources to its students.
