Got an invite today -- but I'm going to pull my application as I was accepted to Columbia. Its kind of a shame b/c I think my NYU application was my strongest by far and I would have liked to see it through to conclusion, but c'est la vie. Best of luck everyone! Moss, congratulations on the Columbia admit. I haven't been watching the Columbia thread, so I wasn't aware. You deserve it, I knew you had a good chance at getting admitted.

Big thanks for withdrawing your application from NYU. You have every right to see it through, but it's really classy of you to step back and let the rest of us have a shot. =)

I don't believe your status changes from that until you get an interview invite though.

its not confusing, its pretty basic. you either have an interview invite or you dont with plenty of time left to still get one. they arent going to tell you if they've read it or not.

it wasnt meant to be harsh. i just think people get so caught up in microanalyzing every detail. Have foreign invites gone out yet? Have non new york invites gone out? How about if you're a paramedic/skydiving/investment banker in Uganda? Have those interviews gone out yet? Relax.

No prob, but I wouldn't say it means that your app isn't under review yet. It means that they have received your app. It won't change to say anything new until there is a change in your status - i.e., interview invite, wait list, or ding. It may or may not be under review at this point.

yup, Guilty as charged! microanalyzing it is! But, I was genuinely confused abt this one-NYU being my first app of the season! Anyway, thanks for your insight..it did help clear all clouds. it didnt seem harsh to me-blunt, yes. harsh-no.

from now on, its gonna be :inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale! 8-)

I have a pretty simple way of telling whether they've read my app. My 3rd essay is a video uploaded on YouTube, not publicly shared. Being from India, all I have to do is check the stats to see if there have been any views from the US yet. :-D

So far... none :(

yeah i am. it's a video of my pics and me narrating my professional history, interests and hobbies in gangsta rap. ends with a note on how i look forward to working with the class and a promise that i'll learn to rap better by the time the MBA program begins. :D

Just got my invite to interview. 26yo F / 5 ye WE at matriculation / 3.6 from near-Ivy / 700 GMAT w/painfully low quant score / NYC. Most interestingly (to me) I'm a re applicant.

In case I forgot any relevant stats, my favorite color's blue ;)
