Hi guys,
I am in a very tricky situation right now and would love to seek your guidance. I have admits from UNC & McCombs without any scholarship and a half tuition waiver from Kelley & Rice. I am a career switcher and plan to transition into consulting primarily post my MBA. Coming from a middle class family from India, the financial situation is a bit tight and I would be relying on loans for both tuition and living expenses.
UNC / McCombs - Good brand, no doubt. But I don't think I have the risk capability to go 160k in debt
Kelley - Not really sure of the brand value & career prospects & recognition of a Kelley MBA
Rice - Brand value only good for energy which happens to be my alternate career plan but the job scene for international students is a little tight
I do believe I have a decent profile and have a good shot at Anderson / Darden / Tepper but then again my low GMAT score (710) would not make me eligible for a scholarship in any of these schools as well.
Ways out -
a) I go with any of the above schools
b) I apply to a little higher ranked school, max out on loans and matriculate
c) I retake the GMAT, get a higher score*, request to be considered for merit scholarship at UNC / McCombs but I'm not really sure if they would consider that after releasing out the decisions
d) I retake the GMAT, get a higher score*, apply next year to higher ranked colleges
e) Settle with ISB
* - considering I do manage to get that 740+

Congrats for those great schools. I will try to help explore your options with info.
If you decide to apply next year, I ask you to take a look how you will strategy could be. In the below link you will find feedback from a student when he was rejected from Tuck, which is considered from rare schools that provides feedback. You will find strong feedback on each element of application. You may consider it for any high rank school, even Darden.

On other schools forums, you will other great members this year (class of 2018) who are on the waitlist for even Kelley. Those people have 750 & 770. Go to Kelley forum also.
If you will go to what you have, then you have big schools. I understand your debt problem. You can think in Kelley as good option. It is not known for consulting with MBB. But it works with 2nd tier such as Deloitte and Accenture. The consulting is a great support. Actually it is unique to Kelley. I was in direct contact with the one of consulting director and also verified the info above. I have attached you also a cope of table extracted from poets and Quant.
UNC is one of the good school and feed MBB with consultants. It is a good choice if you can afford.
Finally, you can play it safe and attend ISB, if you got accepted

Thank you so much for the rather informative response. The stats look pretty good to me for Kelley. I am leaning in towards Kelley but just want to understand how the brand value of Kelley is as compared to UNC / McCombs.
