I am an active duty military member, and am currently considering three online MBA programs( Ball State University, Mississippi State University, and Oklahoma State University). With no business experience, and very limited exposure to people with MBAs, I do not know if any of these programs stand head and shoulders above the others. All three are within my budget, have an AACSB accreditation, and are fairly asynchronous. Each has their own particular strength, and have been ranked over the other two in some form or fashion. Can anyone shed light on which of these three programs is "better" than the others, and why? Thanks!

The online programs carry a bit of a stigma among applicants and employers. Assume you are aware of that?

What specifically attracted you to online programs? There is no option for full time or part time MBA? For a person with military experience, business experience is not required or needed.

Due to my location, I am limited to online programs. The only university within driving distance does not offer an MBA classes during the weekend, and the only MBA program offered on base carries a very specific concentration. My job does not allow me to take time during the week to attend classes in person. The flexibility offered by online programs is extremely important to me.

Have you taken the GMAT? Why are you considering these programs as opposed to at UNC or one of the top programs for online MBA? If it's at all possible I would really encourage you to look at IE, hybrid program where are you do 3 weeks in person in Madrid but that's broken up in one week stints over the course of a long period of time.

I have chosen these three schools due to their budget and flexibility. While it would be nice to attend an UNC or top school with an online option, I cannot afford those schools. I am active duty military, so the program must be completely online, I don't have the option of attending in person.

Have you considered applying to a full time MBA program once you finish your service? Most top 20 programs are extremely interested in recruiting veterans, and there's usually GI Bill funding/school-level scholarships available. Plus, a full time MBA program would be a better opportunity for you for a career transition once you're out because of the summer internship component, etc.
