Hi, I wanted to know how much will a transition to career as a product manager help me standout because of my background as a male Indian engineer in IT. 3 years experience as SD and less than1 year as a PM right now.

Most admissions committee will evaluate your application wholistically which will include your test score (GRE/GMAT), your work experience (company, # of years, function etc), ECs, recommendations and your research into the program and its fit for your profile.
Thus, you will need to focus on all the above factors to make a cut from the application pool. Don't solely rely on a PM transition to help you get the admit since we are seeing an increasing number of PMs consider an MBA to fast track their career growth.
