Hi ynk,

You may or may not already do this, but try identifying the following items while reading the passage: 1. the main idea of this passage
2. the author's position and tone (neutral? critical? etc.) and 3. structure of the argument (e.g. two opposing sides vs. one sided, informational vs. author's opinion)

It'll help you you to understand the passage and quickly identify what the specific arguments may be.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thanks for the tip.I will surely try it out next time.
I actually gave another MGMAT CAT today and this time I improved RC a lot but now its SC.I don't get it.
Before this test i was scoring well in SC.I just can't understand what's going wrong with me.Maybe this time i made a lot of silly mistakes.I am actually scoring Q42/Q43/Q44 in Quant but V34/V32/V31 in verbal.Just want to score at least V38 in the real GMAT and I am short on time.
Any more Advice ?

Yes, SC is a tough one. The good news is that you're almost at your target Verbal score. For more broader tips on Verbal, check out the forum's chat thread on in improving on that section: how-to-improve-verbal-from-v30-to-v40-142361.html.

When it comes to SC, here are four skills that can help:

1. Patience - don't jump the gun. For the hardest SC questions, you'll need to go through a few steps before you're ready to answer.
2. Meaning - SC questions are rarely only grammatical. Be sure you understand what the original sentence is trying to convey. This will help you rule out answers that don't make sense or violate the logic or meaning of the sentence.
3. Attention to detail
4. Don't just use your gut or 'ear' to select an answer choice. Try to eliminate incorrect answer choices systematically.

If you have some time from now until the 27th, try signing up for a free trial of our course. Our adaptive learning technologies can help you iron out those last verbal issues: https://econgm.at/freetrialoffer

Best of luck and let us know how things go.

Don't panic! It is normal to sometimes do well in one section but not so much in another and at others to do well in the other section but not so much in the first. That is the reason we insist that you must practice each question type regularly. As for SC, here is a free video you will find helpful:

https://www.gmatclub.com/forum/veritas-prep-resource-links-no-longer-available-399979.html#/free-gmat-lesson/

It has 4 parts - check out all 4 from the PLAYLIST on the top left corner of the video.

The better you've digested the passage, the quicker the questions in RC should go. Before getting to the answer choices, try to do a little predicting. This way you'll be less likely to be swayed by intentionally misleading choices and you can eliminate two or three answer choices. When it's down to two answer choices and both seem to be factually correct, ask yourself if one of them seems too extremely worded, or perhaps claims more than can be supported by the text. Or perhaps one answer choice somehow distorts information in the text. In many cases the correct names, phrases, etc. are used but they are borrowed from different/unrelated parts of the text. If one reads too quickly one can easily to fall into that trap.
