Hi,
I had taken the veritas prep free mock test. I scored a Q51 inspite of getting 11 questions wrong. Is there any error in this since I have heard in this forum that for Q51 in real GMAT test, one can afford to make a max of 2 mistakes only? I am confused since I want to take the Veritas full mock series
Hello,
bzbasithz. You are right: on an official test, you will
not be able to miss 11 questions and earn a 51 in Quant. But that is not to dismiss the Veritas algorithm. Perhaps the level of questions you were answering was consistent with someone who would end up earning a 50-51. The general consensus on this forum seems to be that Veritas Prep mocks are fine for practice, just as are those from
Manhattan Prep, but nothing beats the real deal for predicting your eventual score. I have seen aberrant results--someone a month or so ago posted a 740 score (I believe) after earning no more than a 720 in an official practice test--but by and large, those six official practice tests fall in line with where a test-taker ends up scoring. If you are far enough along in your prep to feel ready to take full-length CATs, then you might want to take the first or second practice test from mba.com. After that, though, you ought to study theory, practice questions, or do whatever you need to before taking that second practice test, since tests 1 and 2 are the only ones you can access for free. (Some students make the mistake of retaking the same exam, earning an inflated score, and then believing that such a score is indicative of their improved abilities.)
However you decide to go about your studies, I wish you good luck. And if you have any questions, just post. The community would love to see you succeed, especially if you have the potential to hit that elusive perfect Quant score.
