Hello everyone,
I gave GMAT (1st attempt) on 12th August'17.
Score breakdown : 660 (Q40, V41)
Maths has always been my weak link. I started studying for GMAT around 4 months back. After finishing the Diagnostic test I knew that I needed tons of practice in quant.
Study material used:
1)
MGMAT Quant books
2) OG'16
3) OG Quant
4) GMAT Club quant questions
After going through all the quant related
MGMAT books I attempted my first GMAT Prep test and scored a disheartening 37. I evaluated my performance on the test and came up with the following observations:
1) I was taking too much time to solve even easy questions
2) I lacked the understanding of basic concepts of certain topics like probability, combinatorics, number properties, etc.
3) I was getting mentally tired during the test.
So keeping in mind all the shortcomings mentioned above I started solving questions from the GMAT Club quantitative section, related to the topics I was weak in. Side by side I kept on solving OG questions and kept on evaluating the methods used to solve the questions. All this while I maintained an
error log, which I periodically revised.
When I felt fairly confident I attempted second GMAT Prep test and scored a 42. Disheartened again.
I kept on working on my weaknesses, kept on solving more questions and kept on learning better ways of solving the problems.
On my third GMAT Prep attempt I scored a 49 and was satisfied with my performance.
Unfortunately even after all that effort while giving the GMAT test, I blanked out during the quant section. I had opted to do verbal first and then quant.
I believe my poor performance on quant was more due mental fatigue than due to my lack on knowledge.
Now I am not sure what strategy should I apply in addition to what I have already applied.
Please point me in the right direction.
Thank you
Dkingdom
