Got 270 on practice GMAT but need a 600. I need help with a study plan

I have a conditional MBA offer from a reputable B-school but they require me to complete the GMAT with a score above 600. I took a practice GMAT to test my benchmark and received 240. After studying for a month, I received 270. I am really struggling and not sure how to prep for the GMAT. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to focus and put the time and care it requires, but need help.

With that score after a months practice, you’ll probably need about 4 months of practice and it looks like you’ll need to start with the basics for both quant and verbal.

Try TTP for quant (their verbal is good too, but seems to work better for native speakers)

GMAT Ninja YouTube videos for verbal is a free and solid option as well

A score of 270 in the diagnostic test is far indeed from the target score. It is all about raising 350+ pointers. The score tells that neither the Math nor the Verbal is above average. Hence, both sections have to be taken care of simultaneously. To improve, you will require consistent learning and practice. Also, keep your motivation high to learn.

Also, make a note of various possible combinations to achieve your target score. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

While concept learning, try solving 600 level questions by topic and be habitual of creating the error log. Prepare a list of all the doubts you face during solving and practicing questions. This practice will help you assess the topics in which you need more time to prepare. After solving as many questions as possible, take the 1st mock test and assess your performance. Continue the process with 650+ level by topic and then 700+ level questions by topic. The entire mock test should be completed in a disciplinary manner. Since this is a bit long journey, 1-on -1 tutoring can also be helpful to shorten the study period if your study budget is affordable.

Regular tests will reflect the positive change in the score, and hence, your confidence will boost up. Gradually, with the help of mock tests, you will be able to compete with time and hence will be able to learn time management.

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just have not put in enough time and effort to have scored higher yet. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Was your 270 from a 2nd practice CAT/mock or from the Official GMAT?
2) How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) How soon do you have to submit your Official GMAT Score? Are there any other aspects to this conditional offer besides a score of 600 or higher? Are you expected to score at a particular percentile in any of the sections?
