OG Advanced vs MGMAT advanced

Question

Hi I have limited time to take the test and I want to know between OG advanced and MGMAT advanced, which one should I go for to get a good score on the test?

First of all, I’m hoping in assuming you’re not skipping the beginning steps. Jumping immediately into the advanced doesn’t help. Think about learning a language and deciding to skip everything and just go straight to the last chapter in the book. Probably not gonna be very productive. 😎

The official book is just a collection of questions with explanations and contains both Verbal and Quant questions. You get absolutely zero tips or suggestions how to score better.

MGMAT Advanced quant is only quant. However, it contains material and strategies to help you perform better but only in specific advanced quantitative areas. For example, it’ll teach you how to solve combinations questions or probability but unless you have already mastered Word problems in arithmetic questions, you will never see those advance question types on the test.

In my opinion, if you need a book to help you elevate your Quant level beyond Q 49, Manhattan advanced Quant is a good choice.

On the other hand, if you need to elevate your verbal, official advanced questions is not going to help you really. Look for other options. It is a cheap book and has good questions in it so you might as well get it but I’m just saying it’s not going to help raise your score really.

So I have the gmatclub tests and TTP.. will mastering these 2 be enough to gain confidence to approach new quant questions in exam? Also which one of the following strategy would you recommend:
1. Working chapter wise simultaneously on basic and advanced resources
2. Finishing basic resources for all chapters and then delving into the advanced resources

What you're asking about - and what you might actually 'need' at this point in your studies - might be different things. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
