Sources like The Wall Street Journal and The economist have hefty prices
If there are free or not that expesensive sources which are sophisticated enough or match gmat rc content

One free option could be to read/use the Manhattan-Prep RC passages through gmatclub.

Though subscription to the The Economist is expensive, non-subscribers can read a limited number of articles for free every month if they register on the site. Many other sources work the same way. The Atlantic had put a total block on non-subscribers, but I was recently able to read a few articles.
Also, some subscriptions are not that expensive. For example, residents of India can subscribe to the New York Times for something like Rs 660 a year (I think) - and that's such a bargain!
Finally, many sources are still free. The university sites are usually free, and the reading matter there may be closest to GMAT RC.
