I got 2 questions wrong in quant towards the end and got 81 percentile

Question

Hi,

I got 19 questions correct in the quant section yet ended up with 81 percentile, can anyone please explain? Also, I do not feel I got any hard or very hard questions despite getting 16 questions in a row. I want to understand how the scoring algorithm works. I did not correct any answers. (i got queston 17 and question 20 wrong)

The Understanding Your Score page on the MBA website mentions that "The Quantitative Reasoning score is based on three factors: 1) the number of questions answered, 2) whether the answers are correct or incorrect, and 3) the difficulty and other parameters of the questions answered."

There's also some myth vs. fact info (e.g. in the beginning of the Official-Guide 2024) you may find interesting.

I have a few questions, Is the official mock, If yes is this the free mock. (Mock01 or 02)\

I too faced a similar issue, This could be possible BCS of free Offical Mocks are exhausted with people misusing them to understand the algorithm ( My opinion, Might not be correct).

Hence take the paid version, As resets are limited here ppl won't play with the data. I don't think this can happen in your official test.

Quant section in GMAT Focus is easier than that in GMAT Classic so the scoring has become tougher. I suggest learners to focus on getting 80 percentile plus in Quant. As long as that happens, you are fine for any school (provided the other sections are good too).
