More just curious what everyone else is doing. With Sloan's deadline fast approaching, I am putting the finishing touches on my application.

After Sloan, I will have applied to 4 schools.. Dont know whether to take a break or pick out new schools to apply to right away. Im sick and tired of app stuff, but dont know if I will get interviews from any of the four schools. I know the right answer is keep pushing, learn everything I can about schools I might want to attend..

My original plan was to wait and find out how many interview calls I get, then base my next essays on whether I got a lot (apply to top 7 schools), or if I got zero (shoot lower in the top 15-20 range). But alas I sit here, Oct 22, hearing nothing from any school. Perhaps my original plan was way too optimistic.

Anyone else going through similar pains? Any strategy plans you want to share?

Finishing up my 3rd app, Duke, and then setting my sites on atleast 1 more top 20 in R2 (UNC, dec 7) after that... If I havent decided yet. I'm excited I'll be able to relax and go to the gym more often again... but... I may freak out and try to get another app in...

I'll feel much better once my first interview invite comes in.

Interviews have just started rolling out, so don't lose hope yet!

I'm in the same boat as you and I'm giving myself a break until Thanksgiving. If I haven't heard anything, I'll start researching other schools and putting together applications for the round 2 deadlines. I have the list in mind, but no energy or interest in working on them now. Some people think that you'll lose momentum, but I think we already HAVE lost momentum! :)

I've submitted three applications and won't do any others. I have three reasons:


One: I would be hard pressed to find more recommenders, and I don't want to ask my current recommenders for yet another favor. I owe them enough as it is.
Two: For personal reasons, I lack the time to do more.
Three: I'm getting old, and if I don't spend the two years at one of my dream schools, I'd rather spend them working. Aut Harvard aut nihil, if you want. :wink:


Okay, three and a half: Like the OP, I'm tired of writing applications, too.


Probably this isn't the optimal strategy, or indeed a strategy at all. Maybe I'll change my mind for Round 2... on the other hand, if I got triple-ding'd, I'm not sure how enthusiastic I would be. I would have to re-design my entire approach, too, if that happened.
