Hi,
I took the GMAT back on July 17, 2017 to set myself up for a potential MBA program after completing a few years of work. I am currently 23, with a year of consulting experience under my belt, and am still considering obtaining an MBA, but think that I should do this at the last possible chance to maximize my work experience.
I am curious to know in reality what is the latest start year could I get into. I know that the GMAT scores are good for 5 years, but this doesn't necessarily take into account application deadlines.
For instance, I could apply for an MBA program on July 16, 2022 and my score would technically still be valid but would my GMAT score be considered valid for that application round if the deadline is September?
Any clarification would be appreciated, thanks!

The score is valid 5 years before the application deadline in most cases.
In your example, the score will not be valid if the deadline is Sep and yu score has completed 5 years in July.
Always recommended to check the specific program's website, as the requirements may differ.

Also, there is some debate about the concept of "stale" scores. One thing if you took it at 27 and then applied at 30 because you may have had some promotions and projects but it is different when it was taken in the senior/junior year of college and applied 4 or 5 yeas later. Granted, if it is very high (99th percentile or higher then it is fine) but if it is borderline, some claim schools will discount the score somewhat.... Just FYI.
