Here is my background:
1. GMAT Score 730- Q49 V41 AWA – 5.5
2. Rank 4 in my undergraduate class, have also been awarded 3 gold medals (including for best all-round girl student). Have also been ranked in all-India and state-level 10th and 12th standard exams (I know this is a long way back)
3. 3 years of work experience as a lawyer. My primary practice areas are – securities laws and foreign investment in India. I have managed teams of 3-5 lawyers.
4. Indian Nationality.
5. Age 27 years
6. No extracurricular / community activities after college. I’ve recently quit my job and volunteering in a vocational programme for school and college drop-outs.
Goals post MBA:
- Entrepreneurship in the luxury services segment
- Strategy consulting
My top choice schools are: Harvard, Wharton, Booth, Sloan, Kellogg
I am worried about my lack of extra-curricular activities (largely attributable to crazy work hours) and the fact that I have recently quit my job and don’t have another one in hand.

HBS will be a long shot - being a lawyer is basically a non-starter there, especially one who isn't practicing in the west and who doesn't on the surface have blue chip names on the resume.
The other schools are going to be a big stretch as well - go ahead and apply, do the best you can on the applications, but most adcoms are wary of lawyers applying to bschool (it's not that they lack brains or talent, but that the lawyers who do tend to apply are those who are burned out and jaded - you have to convince a very skeptical adcom that you're not that kind of person).
