Hi Paul: I would very much appreciate if you can share some of your view and insights on the appropriate wordings for my MBA application essays.
Should i avoid using financial jargons like "seeking alpha" (excess return), risk-free premium or CAPM in my essays at all? even to schools that are said to be more finance-focused e.g. Columbia, NYU, Chicago etc.?
Also i'd very grateful if you can suggest or recommend one or 2 MBA school that you think I would have a resonable change to get in. My current targets are Wharton (stretch...), Columbia, NYU and Cambridge in UK (as a safety...). My profile as below:
demographics: 26/ female/ Hong Kong
academic / qualifications: GPA 3.3, GMAT 710, CFA level 3 passed
job experience: working at an Asian focused real estate PE fund for 3.5 years
post-MBA aspiration: to work in general PE fund that focuses on sustainable investments in developing markets
extra-curricular: mainly voluntary works
- college: heavily involved with an AIDS awareness program at college and being one of the 6 HK delegates to do a 12-day service trip to Kenya
- post-college: tutoring low-income families for free and joined various fund-raising voluntary events
Looking forward to your reply. Thanks much!
