Dear all,
About myself: I have a very low GMAT score of 590. I have 7 years of full-time work experience (showing considerable growth from a junior level position to a senior level position) in the United States excluding about two years of work experience in my home country. I also have a Masters degree from the United States with a GPA of about 3.5. I obtained my undergraduate degree in my home country. I should be able to get good recommendations from my current and ex managers. My manager who is an American (since this may matter), recognizes me for my excellent written communication and analytical skills and my job involves extensive data analysis, technical writing and documentation. My degrees and work experience are both related to the environmental field and I am not an engineer. I also have been told often that I have strong oral and written communication skills.
My dream school is Stanford and I know many of you might be thinking that its outrageous of me to even dream of GSB with such low GMAT scores. I genuinely think Stanford has so many things to offer to me, particularly, their dual degree program with the Environmental Resource Management option.
Even if there is a slight chance that I may be accepted into Stanford, I'd like to apply. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to retake GMAT. Not sure if this will help but I had taken a Math class during my Masters and I got an A on it. Given my very low GMAT scores, do you think I should forget about applying to Stanford? If yes, are there other "good" schools that you think I could apply to? Even though it appears from Stanford's website that they may admit people with a score of 590, I dont really know if I stand a chance. I value every single person's thought and all your inputs are equally important to me. Thank you very much.

If I were in your shoes, I would wait until I can re-write the GMAT before applying. Even if it means waiting another year... I know it's a tough pill to swallow but success requires persistence.
Alternatively, apply and re-apply next year if you don't get in. I'm not sure how Stanford looks at re-applicants. If they look negatively on it, I would definitely wait until I have the chance to get a better GMAT score.
