The recommendation to reference the Yale questions is a great one. Also keep in mind that it is best to write about what you really truly do want to do with your career. That said, keep in mind that there should be a logical story, this is something they are looking for. So what you have done now + what you will learn at B school = your next steps. Everyone has something different (to some extent) they want to learn at B school so you need to figure out what that is for you. If you are still having trouble, reach out to me. I help my clients think through this and tell them what is good and not good to write about. Good luck!

Talk about your current role and the kind of skill sets that you gained in them. Start talking about how you developed passion for an enhanced role and how MBA will help you achieve it.
That’s how you arrive at your short term goal. Your long term should follow your short term goal and should leverage all the traits of your short-term job. Also it will be important to connect to showcase how your B-school experience (peers, curriculum, activities) will contribute towards achieving your short term goals.

Hi,

Writing an excellent career goals essay is definitely challenging. I guest-posted a blog article on GMAT Club a couple of days ago on how to write an A+ Career Goals Essay.

https://gmatclub.com/blog/2010/11/how-to-earn-an-a-on-your-career-goals-essay/

I welcome your feedback on the article and please let us know if we can be of further assistance to you.
