Alex,
I would love to hear your opinion on my candidacy at Tuck and Yale SOM. At all three places I would be applying for a dual-degree MBA/MA in International Relations (Tuck dual degree with Johns Hopkins SAIS and Yale dual-degree with the Yale graduate school).
My question: Should I wait a year and take some economics courses (required by Johns Hopkins) and try to get my GRE quant up a bit? Or should I go for it this January?
Work experience:
I have worked at a sales and marketing consulting firm for three and a half years. I started as an Associate and have since been promoted three times. I am currently a Director and lead a group of eight analysts.
Recommendations:
I will get two very good recs, one from my direct supervisor who will speak to my internal leadership and a second from our COO who will speak to my project leadership.
Background:
I graduated from a top liberal arts school in 2007 with a 3.3 (B.A. in Political Science, minor in Latin American Studies). My GRE is a 660 Quant (62nd percentile), 650 Verbal (94th percentile). On campus, I was a four-year varsity lacrosse player. I also was Co-Founder and Co-President of a campus club, started to promote school spirit on campus.
Most notably, I spent two semesters in Latin America. In the second semester I started my college’s program there.
Extracurricular:
This spring I will be a local youth lacrosse team for the third year. For the past year, I have volunteered as a mentor in Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Please provide feedback when you get a chance!
Thanks!
