HI Alex,
I am applying to business schools in R1 and R2 this year. I would like to hear your opinion on the strength of my profile and my chances of getting into the colleges i am applying for.
My profile.26 Year old male from Hyderabad India.
GPA: 2.8 ( Computer science Engineering ) ( Dropped out in between and completed recently in 2009 as it is not possible to change majors in India )
Gmat: 660
Work experience: 4.5 yrs by sept 2011.. ( sales/ Marketing / Brand management)
only one brand name company in my experience, most of it is in medium sized firms.
My under graduate GPA is quite bad however i have built my career in brand management the hard way up, starting in sales, and the moving to marketing ultimately getting the opportunity to work as a brand manager last month. I have been quite successful at my work and good recommendations to validate my claim. I have chosen to apply to a couple of good schools, CMU- Tepper, UCLA-Anderson.
Apart from these two i am also applying to, Rochester- Simon, Notre Damme- Mendoza, Purdue- Krannert, Ohio state-Fisher, USC-Marshall, Indiana-Kelley. I know that i am applying to a lot of schools, however, I have many of my former clients recommending me, so i would not be overwhelming any of them. I am getting strong recommendations from each of them.
I would be grateful if you could answer some questions i have ( as listed below) and give your opinion on my profile.
1.How big of an obstacle would my undergraduate GPA present itself to be assuming i write good essays ?
2. Are my two reach schools, Anderson and CMU way out of reach ? ( I hear they have an affinity for statistics and a lower tolerance level for non traditional applicants, anderson too in the past year)
3. What are my chances of getting into any of the schools i have mentioned above.
regards,
