W On Transcript???

Question

Hi!

So I'm currently living in one of the two (not by choice, was waitlisted for housing and assigned this) residential college dorms at my university.

These residential colleges require us to participate in activities in order to pass the "class." By class, I mean that on my transcript, a zero credit, pass or fail class entitled "leadership at residential college" is listed above my actual classes.

I went through a bunch of hoops to save my parents money, and to upgrade my living situation, and cancelled my housing contract for the remainder of the academic year. I'm moving out in 22 days. As a result, I won't be in the residential college program any longer.

I have the option of trying to cram (really going to get in the way of studying for finals) 5 events in the next 4 days, or to get a W in this "class." Currently, I'm juggling finals, buying stuff and moving into this apartment before I go home for Christmas, as well as getting my internship ready to roll.

Will this W affect my admissions into business school? Will it affect anything?

No expert, but to me this sounds like an optional essay and an opportunity to score points. 
I think you'll need to explain why you are dropping out. The economic answer seems like the most obvious excuse here, but if there are other factors in your activities/transcript they might read into that. 
But the opportunity lies in how are you going to deal with this. You made a commitment to participate in these events, I assume over the Spring as well as the Fall? Are you going to stop attending just because you move? If you can say "I moved because I money was tight, but even the next semester I still participated even though I didn’t get credit for it" you have changed the story from "wonder what this W is all about, maybe this person couldn't deal with the commitment or there is something else wrong here" to "here is someone who doesn't do things for the grade but for the experience and honors his/her commitments." 
This is based on the assumption that if you stayed, you would have another semester to complete these projects. The other option is talking to the instructor/administrator and asking for an extension to complete the required items the next semester.

If one moves out of the dorm, one is required to drop the class -- you cannot participate in the class if you don't live in the dorm.

I also was fortunate enough to find out that I'm able, with the teacher of the residential college systems approval (which I was fortunate enough to get), to get the class removed entirely from my transcript. This is currently in the process of being done.

Still, I'm really curious as to what occurs when a student has a W on his or her transcript and applies to an MBA program.

Sauces, What I found: https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/bus ... ssion.html I have a few myself. Two were dropped because it had no relevance to my future goals. Others because of scheduling, but I retook these and got great grades in the classes. Not sure what effect there would be, but I would assume if you have an upward trend with decent difficulty, you'd have no issues.
