hi please help me evaluate my profile for mba programs.
i had given gmat once and scored 620(q49 v26) and 660 (q48 v33) the second time just 2 days back. i am in the process of applying for round 2 . the schools on my list are
nyu stern (the one i really wanna get into)
wharton
darden
chicago booth
i know that my gmat is below the median in these schools but it is in the mid 80% range, so my background should be pretty strong in other areas. and i should have strong essays.
heres my brief profile
undergrad - engineering from india
graduate school - MS in computer engineering from one of top 30 engineering school - gpa 3.1
work ex - total 4.5yrs
2 yrs in US with semiconductor company - a sales position where i handled various big customers and managed different accounts - gave a lot of presentations and trainings to customers.
1.5 yrs in india as a business analyst - interacted with clients , managed a team of 3 developers -
1 yr in india - involved in establishing a diagnostic center (xray and laboratory). involved in the marketing, strategy, managed a staff of 8 people
do you think if i focus on my application i stand a chance for these schools?
While your professional qualifications are impressive, I don't think they will be enough to overcome concerns about your academics (low GMAT and grad GPA) given those stats and the fact that you come from an overcrowded segment in the applicant pool and are applying to highly competitive schools. I think you are aiming too high. If you want, apply to NYU Stern and then look into programs where are are more likely to get admitted.
