Don't retake it for the AWA - adcoms to this day don't know what to do with it.
Also, what you may need to do is to reevaluate your own perception of what an MBA is worth. It seems like you feel that an MBA is such a game changer in your life/career that you're willing to build an entire resume/life for the primary (or even sole) purpose of getting in, because it's somehow going to magically transform you and give you stuff that you don't have now.
And that is mostly fantasy.
The reality is, an MBA is a nice to have - it's a fun experience, you learn a lot, BUT -- it's not essential. And thinking that it's somehow essential or the lack of an MBA is what's preventing you from really getting ahead is paradoxically what will prevent you from getting what you want.
An MBA isn't some end game. It's not some turbo accelerator in your career where it will put you in another league when it comes to your standard of living, opportunities, and so forth.
Again, it's a luxury, a nice to have. The only time where it could be a necessity is if you're in a non-business profession (engineering) and you want to get into investment banking or mgmt consulting -- but the thing is, most people leave these two jobs within the first 2 years, and they don't end up taking jobs after that where being a banker or consultant is a prerequisite (and speak to any banker/consultant former or otherwise, and just about all of them will tell you that these jobs while nice to have aren't worth killing yourself and planning your whole career/life around it to get the opportunity - if you get it, great; if you don't, you're not really missing a whole lot).
So in summary, take the job that you find more meaningful NOW AT THIS POINT IN YOUR LIFE/CAREER -- not the job you think impresses others (whether it's your parents, relatives, teachers, peers, MBA admissions officers, your status seeking next door neighbors, etc.), now or in the future. Sooner or later, you have to make choices that are driven by what YOU want to do, rather than having choices being dictated by external validation.
