Thanks for your reply Linda. If I were to retake the GMAT with the intention of aiming for better US b-schools, what score would counter my GPA? I've reached 740 in practice tests but if my GPA will still be an issue with a score like that, I will likely stick to Canadian schools. Also, my undergrad was in commerce and all my quant courses were Bs and higher. I'm not sure if that matters. I took some philosophy courses that did not help my GPA.

Thanks
Grace

Grace,

It is good that your quant grades were A's and B's in colleges, especially if there were more of the former. It is really impossible for me to say that if you got a 740 your GPA would no longer be an issue or to say that with that GMAT score you will get in. It's just not that simple. Your GPA will be less of an issue because you will present strong evidence of aptitude for b-school if you have an increased GMAT, especially if your quant goes up.

I see your quant score as more of an issue than your overall score, although the two are obviously related. Ideally you want that to get your quant percentile over 80%. If you can do so without lowering your verbal, the total will take care of itself.
