Hi,
I’d appreciate an evaluation of my profile for top 10 MBA schools.
About me: 25 years, Mexican male
GMAT: 740 (AWA 6.0)
Bachelors: Economics 7.4/10 (Mexico’s grade system). I started working very early during my studies and that affected my grades. However, that specific job experience gave me the job that I have today.
Career:
-3 years as a Market Intelligence analyst at a small U.S. consulting boutique.
-2 years as a Market Intelligence senior analyst at a Big-4 accounting firm. I’m currently the youngest in the U.S. and Americas department (100+ employees). I joined without an MBA—a strict requisite for the position. I currently hold this position.
Extracurricular:
-Member of the chess team—won several state championships and competed in national championships.
-Assistant chess teacher
Community:
-Chess lessons for children with disabilities.
-I gave talks about effects of drugs in the brain and ethics to 20+ schools in my city.
What are my chances for a top 10 MBA?

I would say you stand a solid chance at landing in a top 10 school. Start thinking about developing your overall story and finding the schools which fit your needs/interests the best!

There is nothing here that suggest why you CAN NOT target any of the top schools. You should definitely talk about your job during undergrad. However, to have a strong application, you need to bring your leadership qualities at work as well as outside work. At the end, your chances of success will depend on how well you translate your strengths in the application.
