I know this only serves to further reinforce your belief that applicants give standardized test results too much attention in the application process, but bear with for I am at an impasse.
Took the GMAT about 2 years ago and the GRE about a year later. The GRE was taken not to improve upon my GMAT for b-school chances but rather b/c I was preparing to apply to grad econ programs for which it was a requirement.
Here are my obvious options:
1) Submit GMAT only
2) Submit GRE only
3) Submit both the GMAT and GRE.
Would 3) give the appearance I don't have my priorities straight (i.e. trying to improve upon an already excellent GMAT)? Should I include an addendum explaining the GRE was for another graduate program or would this be disadvantageous b/c I ultimately didn't follow through and run the risk of coming across capricious?
Seems like the GRE could be worthwhile to include but it is hard to see it as a net gain short of not submitting the GMAT entirely. If submitting both is not in my best interest (which I am guessing will be your position): ceteris paribus, what is better a 770 GMAT (with only 87% quantitative) or a perfect 1600 GRE? Does an applicant with a GRE, regardless of score, not appear as committed as one with a GMAT?
