Indian Male 27 years old

Education:
Undergrad (IIT Madras 06 - Aerospace Eng) Equivalent GPA 3.4/4
MS from a US top 20 school GPA 3.91/4.0, worked on projects with NASA

GMAT (taken once) = 720 (Q 98%, V 78%, AWA 6.0)

Work Experience
3 years in Caterpillar Inc., USA (got one promotion and expecting one more in a few months)
Graduated from Leadership & Technical Development program with a very high rating
Current Position - Engineer, research & development

Research & Teaching Assistant in grad school

Extracurricular Activities
Volunteer at professional affinity groups in CAT
Was selected in National Sports Organization in IIT
Represented the institute and hostel teams

Recommendation Letters
I should get solid recommendation from my current & previous supervisors and my graduate advisor (also dept head).

I am planning to pursue a MBA degree in entrepreneurship and am planning to apply in the following schools:

HBS
Stanford
Wharton
Booth
MIT
Columbia
Stern

Please let me know if I should revisit the list and include a few other schools. I would really appreciate your honest evaluation.

Thanks

PS: Weak points ( Low GPA in Senior Year, < 80% in verbal section of GMAT, not much management experience which is essentially the reason I want to go to B-school, didn't win any National level championship ...)

Hi,

We will agree and disagree with some of the opinions above.

We have a lot of experience in handling profiles like yours. Our take:

HBS and Stanford really like IITians. May be you can chuck Wharton.
MS is a big plus and 3 years of experience in US will make you at par with any US applicant with a good profile.
GMAT score is also good.

The most important question you will have to answer is why MBA?
B schools feel that a lot of IITians settled in India want to move to US and MBA is a good route. You will need to convince the B schools that you are not going for a MBA because you are facing saturation.

Your extra currics are weak to just give it a thought. Your tech background, IIT name, MS, Caterpillar and later entrepreneurship will sell best @ MIT/ Haas/ Stanford so then are your best bets.
