Could you please evaluate my profile? I’m hoping to apply to b-school this fall (for the Fall 2012 school year).
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Asian (International Applicant)
GMAT: 730 Q49 V40
Undergrad: University of Michigan
Major: Computer Engineering and Economics
GPA: 3.48/cum laude
Work Experience: 2 years(3 years by marticulating) as a IT system analysis for a big investment bank in New York promoted once
EC Experience: Advocate for foster children, tutoring/community service
Post MBA plans: management consulting
Target school: Chicago, MIT, Columbia and Northwestern
Questions:
1. Is my GMAT high enough? (I know I screwed up a little bit) I think I can get 750 or above if I study and retake it.
2. What is my chance of getting into one of my target school?

Your GMAT is fine. Getting a 750 won't change where you stand.
In short, as a relatively conventional Asian IT professional, the top 8 schools like the ones you listed are going to be stretches. Choose 1-2 at most.
Focus on schools in the top 16 where you'll be more of a sweet spot -- schools like Darden, Duke, Michigan, Cornell, Yale, UCLA, NYU.
