Hello,
Can you let me know how this looks? I'm hoping to apply to Stern, Columbia, Berkeley and Tuck. Am I in range?
Profile: Male, Caucasian, 28 (in fall 2012)
Undergrad: Middlebury College, GPA 3.4 (cum laude), English Major
GMAT: 710 (Q45, V42)
Experience: 4 years
-Analyst - 2 years middle market PE firm in NYC gathering portfolio company financial results and preparing analyses on performance. Managing 3 pooled purchasing programs for the North American portfolio of 50+ companies totaling spend of more than $25 million.
-Analyst - 1 year supporting/working with the senior operating partner out of the European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, visiting two portfolio companies to analyze opportunities to streamline cost structures and accounting methods.
-Associate - Return to NYC to assist in managing and vetting a pool of outside consultants for use in portfolio company projects.
Interests: Building out hard skills in accounting and financial modeling to either be more effective in a consulting role, or move into financial transactions
Other: NY Marathon, 2 European Triathlons, interest in international employment
I'm a little concerned that I don't have any extracurricular activities due to the moving around. Is it too late to start something now? I'm also a bit worried that my Quant score isn't above the 80th percentile. Should I consider retesting especially considering I was an English major?

Your lack of extracurriculars is a bigger concern than your GMAT score, which is fine, though if you have evidence to believe you could raise it, would be a good thing to do. It is too late to start something extracurricularly, so (a) hopefully you do have *something* (unmentioned) that we could highlight as much as possible and/or (b) you have an interesting personal/family story or something unusual from the international experiences that we could use to make you seem well-rounded and distinctive. (Of course, the fact that you were an English major is fairly distinctive, so (a) if you still write (for readers), we could make something of that or (b) if you are just a good writer, you can use those skills to make your experiences more engaging. If nothing to work with other than what you gave me, I would recommend applying to CBS ED and/or Tuck EA and/or potentially applying to Stern part-time.

Thanks for posting. I would not be concerned with your GMAT score, at this point, I would start focusing on the other parts of the application. While the score could be better, you work in finance so nobody will question your quant skills. As the previous post mentioned, the extra currics are a concern. Many of my clients work in high burn jobs but still figure out a way to do something outside of work. Something to think about is that maybe in a creative discussion we could come up with something that you have done even if you didn't consider it an extra curricular activity. You are in range for all of these schools, of course depending on your overall story, resume details and essay strength.
