I'm hoping to get a professional opinion regarding my profile. Please feel free to provide recommendations for altering my list of potential schools to what you feel would be a better fit.

GMAT: 690 (72Q/92V) - will not be retaking
Undergrad GPA: 3.8 at non-reputable University (Finance); variety of academic honors
Division 1 college basketball player with a variety of honors/awards
Work experience: 4 years as financial analyst at Exx onMobil (highly quantitative); good career progression, international experiences
Post-mba goal -- Corporate Treasury Department in Exx onMobil or other major
Variety of community service activities that include leadership roles
Current Application list for 2012 matriculation -

You have a solid profile, with some potential differentiators (Div. 1 player, international experiences) that may help you stand out enough to compensate for your GMAT score, though you will also have to directly address it by emphasizing your strong quant background in school and work. The key for you will be those differentiators: how many you have, how deep they are, how extensive the leadership is, how strong the international experiences are, etc. Duke and Texas are the most doable schools. Your Quant score gives the remaining schools an excellent reason to ding you, but if you execute well on the differentiators and perhaps have an interesting personal/family story as well you could get one or two of these programs to go for you as well. Wharton doesn't seem feasible to me. Feel free to send me your resume for a closer look: [email protected].

You may want to address the lack of extracurricular. Show more involvement and contribution. Other than that, there is nothing that says why you can not target the schools you mentioned. Your GMAT may not be stellar but it is definitely not a weak one. Leverage your strengths properly and execute your applications well.
