The reason for my post is I would like to get a preliminary judgment on my Bschool application. I will not be applying for 2 more years, but I would like to know where weaknesses are in my profile so they can be fixed before it is too late. I have not taken the GMAT, and I realize that is a huge part of the application, but I want to know where I stand with my application as is.
Race/Gender: White Male.
School: Graduated with a GPA of 3.41 (1st year 2.9, last year 3.8, so upward movement in grades) in Accounting from a private school in Minnesota. The business school is accredited.
During school I had multiple internships:
-In the AR department at my school (nothing much more to go into).
-At a national dental care firm. I interned in AR, AP, Marketing, and human resources over multiple years.
-I interned at United Health Care in finance, and the nonprofit foundation they have. I filled in for finance manager (who did the entire accounting cycle) for 5mo while she was on leave in the nonprofit, so I had experience in nonprofit accounting work. I interned there my last year of college working 30-40hrs a week while taking a full class load.
Work Experience: By the time I will enter school, I will have 1yr internship (full time) and 3yr working experience with UHC. I am working as a Financial Analyst for UHC, and work on a variety of things from health care reform to other health insurance stuff (I wont bore you with details).
Credentials: CPA
Extracurricular: I volunteer with a nonprofit that helps people prepare their taxes. During tax season I go in every weekend, and outside the tax season I go in once a month or so. I will have done this for 4yrs by the time I enter.
I am also an active runner and run marathons yearly. I am involved in my company’s marathon team.
For application purposes, I will write that I will be pursuing my MBA to receive a finance education, as my education is in accounting but my job is in finance. I would also like to go so I could be a financial advisor for the nonprofit I work for. So, I would get my MBA and go back to my current industry in Minnesota.
This is where my application stands as of now. I realize there are many factors (GMAT being the biggest one, and I haven’t taken it yet) in Bschool admissions, but I was wondering where I stand. Is my resume T3, T10, or T20 material? Is there a weakness in my profile that should be addressed?

Your core profile seems good, and would be considered traditional feeder track for b-school, which is favorable vs. some backgrounds which take more convincing for the adcoms to swallow. Not sure what to say about school without knowing what school you graduated from. Academic rigor is a factor, so a 3.4 could be impressive to a committee or not depending on where you went. sounds like you have a strong track record for volunteering which is terriffic--especially since it's also leveraging what you do professionally. The consistency and commitment to your career is good especially if you tie it in directly to your post-MBA vision. What you can do over the next couple of years is work on your leadership experience. Take on challenges at work which put you in charge of people or audits or commiteees, etc. also make sure you study hard for the GMAt so you don't become JAWG (Just another white guy) in the process of applying. If you can find a way to get some international experience that would be good too. Global focuse is becoming more commonplace in top b-schools. Smart of you to think about these things now while you have some run time. The core credentials b-schools are looking for are: maturity, leadership, teamwork and innovation. You seem to have some of all of these, but think through where you may need to beef up one or more category and go from there. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response. So if I were to stay on my current path and get a 700+ score on my GMAT, what school range should I be shooting for? Top3, Top10, top20 or lower?
