Hello,

I am 26 years old, female, from Romania/Europe. Below you can find my profile:

1. 4 years of experience in a company of 1500 employees
- Assistant programmer - 1,5 years
- Engineer counselor -1 year
- Marketing manager -1,5 years

2. GMAT 650 49Q/30V

3. I finished two colleges:

-Polytechnic Institute in Timisoara/Romania - Computer Science, specialization Hardware
i. In Romania the grade system is 1-10, 10 being the maximum grade….so I got my license diploma with 10 and had a grade average of 9,30 for the 5 years of college.
ii.Year of graduation 2008

-Vest University of Timisoara/Romania – Informatics and Mathematics University- Specialization Mathematics/Informatics
i. I got my license diploma with 9.5 and had a grade average of 8.9 for the four years of collage
ii. Year of graduation 2007

4. Significant college and post-college extra-curricular activities or community service

-I have several prizes and diplomas at mathematics competitions over a period of 8 years
-I am member of an organization – Green Line (environment type)
-Sports activities:
i. One marathon in our city, finished place 39
ii. Second place in our city on a contest for “skills with bike”
iii. Captain of the basketball team of girls in high school

5. Target programs: Duke, Dartmouth, Yale, MIT, Berkley (I would like to follow a program in US)

6. Post MBA goal: work in business development, marketing, sales or even financial is of interest

I would like a profile evaluation but also a personal opinion, other MBA programs suggestions.

Hi, Andrada. I am concerned about the low verbal score on the GMAT and do recommend you retake it for these top programs. Since you are from a relatively under-represented background, I do not feel you need to get the score up to the school's average; however, I do feel they are going to be concerned about your ability to communicate and write in English otherwise.
From what I see in your description so far, the only recent leadership you've displayed is your role as marketing manager (captain of the high school basketball team is nice but it is a long time ago). If your impact has been large in the year and a half in that role, then that may be enough for these programs. However, if your impact is not so large and you do not have experience reaching out to and motivating a group of people that doesn't necessarily have to answer to you, then I do encourage you to take a larger part in Green Line (or some other organization) to gain that experience.
Other programs that might be less competitive and have strengths in marketing are Emory, Notre Dame, and UT Austin.
