Hi Alex,
Thanks in advance for taking time to review my profile.
Demographics: 24 year old, white, female (will be 25 upon matriculation); I don't know if it matters either way, but I come from a working class family in which no one has graduated from college
GMAT: 750 50Q, 41V
Undergrad: 2.99 GPA in Finance at large state university (think ACC/SEC); while it doesn't fully explain my two poor years, I was working 25-35 hrs/wk while in school and kind of lost momentum my final year
Work Experience: I currently have a little over 2 years work experience and will be right over the 3 year mark when I start b-school. I have been working in the retail industry since graduation in Merchandising and Operations for two different Fortune 100 companies, with 3 promotions (offer of a fourth that I declined for another opportunity) under my belt. My first position out of school was a management position with 2 leaders reporting to me and 10-15 team members reporting to me.
Extracurriculars/Community Service: Light. In undergrad, I didn't participate because I was working all the time and post-grad, my first year out I had a very irregular schedule; Last year, I read with a first grader for a school year once/week and have done various volunteer events as they have come up with my company, but nothing else regular.
Career Goals: My interest post-MBA is split between strategy for a retail organization and consumer analytics.
School List - I'd been targeting the south, as I would like to live in the south post-graduation, but I'm starting to think of going for a few reach schools out of my comfort zone.
UNC
Duke
Emory
Columbia
Harvard
I think the last two are definitely stretch schools for me, but I am interested in them because of their ties with the luxury & retail industries.
Any thoughts on my chances for these schools/if I should remove/add to my list?
Thanks for your help!
