Hi Jennifer,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I was leaning a bit toward going to Fuqua this summer and seeing things out from there as it gives me access to new and great resources as well as geographies. So your reply was encouraging to that effect. I was only wondering if you could clarify one more thing (You have already, I'm just checking in again, to be sure).

I will in June get a Masters in Economics (M.A.) and then an M.Sc. in Management from Fuqua, so that will be two Master's degrees. Assuming the career progression and need for an MBA as responsibilities grow in years after the MiM, will my case become a non-starter for the M7/top 10 MBA programs because I'd seem like a degree chaser. Also I've read how people with MBAs applying to the top programs are at definite disadvantage. Now I know mine is not an MBA but it is two Masters degrees, and if that becomes a non-starter then I really have to evaluate options more closely.

Your reply will help a lot. Thanks again in advance,

Manoj

Jennifer is out for a few days, but the popularity of these programs in the US is fairly new. To the exend I have asked admissions committee members about pursuit of an MBA several years after an MiM, they appear open to the idea, but they will also probably want to know why you need an MBA given your MiM (and Masters in Econ). If you can make that case and are otherwise well qualified, the MiM shouldn't hurt you. Realize that if you can't make the case, you may simply not need an MBA.

Best,
Linda
