7 schools.

School - reason

1. Cornell - technical/international business focus.
2. Purdue - technical / interdisciplinary
3. Georgetown - Safety schools (solely based ROI)

4. IESE - International business
5. HEC - International business

Dangling on the other 2 schools. Unable to decide or make up my mind. should it be

Europe - ???. (list to choose from - RSM, Empressa, SDA) - tough choices !!!
USA - ???? (Boston, Simon) - difficult !!!

Thanks Hjort.

Regards

Thanks for your reply Linda. You are right that Cornell and LBS are long shots, but it is worth it. I have already applied to Cornell. As for LBS, I spoke to adcom and upon hearing my profile, she mentioned I have an interesting profile (well, no one says "you are stupid"), and suggested me to give a shot. If I do not apply, I will never know. (She is right too).

I would be applying to Georgetown (not sure about the financial aid stuff). RSM, HEC and IE are in the second set of apps. I have heard that US MBA is all time worth more than a Europe MBA. Is that really true?. The job oppornty after an European MBA is less than that of US MBA.

Total schools 7. And then done. Thanks again If there is any suggestion on the last US school on my selection list, let me know.

Regards

You are probably better off with a US MBA if you want to work and live in the US, and you are probably better off with a European MBA if you want to work and live in Europe.

Good luck!

I would also consider the issue of employment eligibility for the EU and the US an important consideration.

The selection of Georgetown makes me a little nervous- I am not a proponent of the safety school concept (although others are) and choosing a school based on Return on Investment puts considerable faith in calculations based on figures that might not have been audited in a meaningful sense.

There might be some tenable reasons to pursue an MBA in Europe but intend to work in the US or the Americas. For instance, the language training of IESE or Instituto de Empresa could be good preparation for working in the wider Spanish-speaking world.
