Depends on how much $$$ Columbia is offering.
If they're offering an amount that only covers the cost-of-living difference between NYC and Chicago (making the effective cost of CBS vs. Booth to be almost the same), then I would still go to Booth.
In my opinion, I would only go to Columbia over Booth if:
- CBS offered a LOT of money (i.e. at least equivalent to half tuition over both years)
- personal ties to NYC (fiancee or serious gf/partner with a career in NYC that won't allow her to move with you to Chicago and you want to stay together)
- you for some reason hate Booth or Chicago (but if you did, you probably wouldn't have applied in the first place).
Everyone is going to have differing opinions, but from what my past clients have mentioned, it seems like Booth is a bit "geekier" than CBS, but also more friendly and collegial than CBS.
In terms of recruiting and academics, it's more or less a wash, no matter what it is you're going into or what you're interested in studying academically. I'm sure there's Booth and CBS guys who will microanalyze what makes aspects of their school better than the other, but on balance it's more or less a wash.
