Much of your application to b-school is going to be about what you plan to do, not just what you have done. Make sure you spend time cultivating a compelling post MBA vision, one that ties into your past experience and your passions hopefully. As for being competitive, I would highly recommend a higher GMAT score, mostly because you hail from what is always a very deep applicant pool. The average GMAT for Indian applicants is off the charts, so coming in below that will only help you stand out in a negative way. It's good you worked for a marquee company, but as you indicate, if it's not marquee in the country that you're applying for b-school, it will take some explaining in the essays, and potentially use critical word count that could have perhaps been put to better use, so it may not be a big advantage. Ultimately, it's more about what you did rather than where you did it. Not to say big name companies don't matter; they can, it's just that it's better to have been a high achiever at a lesser company than a pencil pusher at a big firm. Fortunately in your case, it seems you are very involved both inside and outside of work. B-schools like to see a broad and deep involvement in your community etc. since it typically will translate into an engaged, involved and interesting classmate. Hope this helps.
