I've been quite curious about something since the past month or so and I'm hoping one of the many experienced and helpful experts here can help extinguish my curiosity.
I took my GMAT on June 2, 2012 and (thankfully) scored a respectable 730 (first attempt). I submitted by scores to schools of my choice and subsequently completed my profile on GMAC and allowed it to be available in the Graduate Management Admission Search Services (GMASS). Over the past month, I've been receiving emails from a lot of schools inviting me to meet with them/learn more about the school/leverage scholarship opportunities/attend upcoming info sessions in my city etc...
My question - Do these schools pre screen potential candidates based on the GMAT scores and information provided to GMAC or are these invitations totally random? I have not (yet) registered with any school's admissions forums and nor have I begun the application process with any school i.e. I have not explicitly signed up to receive information from them.
I'm asking because it would be a bit of a confidence boost if the schools actually do pre screen candidates before reaching out to them with invitations. I've received invites from some of my top choices (Stanford, Kellogg, MIT to name a few) so I'd love to know if these schools have qualified me (at some basic level) as a potential candidate.
Thanks in advance for your help.
