GMAT: 670 (Q45, V 37)
AWA: 6.0
Work Ex: about 3 years as a quality analyst with S&P financial services and one year family business/startup
Acads: more than 80% throughout and GPA: 8.1/10
Undergrad Major: Computer Science
Extra Curr: decent in university and during work
Social Service: will join an NGO
Nationality: Indian
I know my GMAT score is lacking but I want to apply to some universities before I retake the GMAT, hoping to get at least a few admits just in case the second GMAT does not go well
Please suggest some universities where I can safely apply at this score - I want to apply to good universities where my score is acceptable and i can expect to get a call with a good profile. I have heard that re application is hard so I do not want to apply to any good universities where I may have a better chance next time around. Initially, I was very confident that I could get a better GMAT score due to below average quant performance on test day due to special circumstances; but now, after a month - I don't really feel like taking the GMAT again if not necessary. So, I'm really hoping to get some valuable inputs here!
I have looked at universities in Canada, Singapore, HongKong and US too. I have a preference for Asia but if i don't make it there then I am open to any good US universities that you can suggest for me at this score. The most important factor for me is career placement after graduation as I will most probably be taking a loan for the course.
Please help me out. Thanks for your time.

Hi Reaper, I think you would be at a disadvantage at the top 25 b-schools (US News rankings). However, consider your application a collective of your GMAT scores, academics, career details and extra curricular achievements. If you can put together a good application and make a wise selection of b-schools, that will be beneficial for you.
Asian b-schools like NUS and NTU tend to go higher on the GMAT, specially for Indian applicants, so your score would be a definite disadvantage there. You can apply to some Canadian programs like Queens and Schulich, and expect a good result (on condition of a good application

Thanks Namita. I guess I ll have to give the GMAT again after all. However, if I do apply to some univs over the next 30 days that will help me build my profile and essays and to get to the point where all I need is the better score.
So, how safe are univs like Penn Smeal, Michigan Broad, Iowa Tippie and other US univs in the rank 30-50 range?
Also, I got mixed opinions about Schulich (the one place where where I am confident of getting into!) - some posts alleged that their placement services are not up to the mark, even though its regarded as a top mba in Canada and is located in Toronto. Also, some people posted that the Asian community has to struggle more in terms of placements and has to settle for lower salaries too. I do acknowledge the lower cost, the better ROI and the ability to stay in Canada though. Can you shed some light on this? perhaps the feedback was from the time during the recession but I cant really get to the bottom of this..
As for Asian universities, I guess I ll delay applying to them until i get a better score. Is there a chance in University of HongKong with this score?
