Technology delivery manager for a India based MNC with 8 years of IT experience and past 4 years IT Project Management in the same company. On deputation at client location in NYC for the past 3 years.
Work Experience:
- Worked for some of the best clients in technology and Finance . In the last 5 years have worked for finance clients- big European investment bank and an American bank on wall street as technology delivery manager. Some really interesting merger and acquisition related IT projects and finance systems roadmap projects.
- Led a team of offshore and onsite 5-7 members
Extracurricular activities :
..CSR activities while in India - computer literacy drive in rural public schools for 9 months on weekends, after-work English speaking classes for security guards , malaria prevention drive door-to-door in my town
.. participated and won state-level elocution and debate contests (although that was 10 years ago).
.. Indian classical dancer with 16 years of training. Performances at prestigious cultural events in south india and have cleared the Government exams (theory and practical exams) on classical dancing with distinction.
.. if it counts then , was also my School People Leader (prefect) of my all-girls high school
My preference is for colleges based in the northeast USA . With my dismal GMAT score I was looking at what my chances could be for a full time MBA at
1. Cornell
2. Stern - have lost hope on this one thanks to my gmat score
3. Fordham
4. Zicklin
5. SUNY

Based on my past experience with successful low-GMAT clients at Cornell, you have a chance at Johnson even with a 650 but I would need to know more about your profile -- such as how balanced or unbalanced your score was, how much leadership exposure you have etc. Your age will put you in the top 10% of your class but is not nearly as important as your GMAT score. You should feel optimistic about your chances at Fordham, Zicklin, SUNY. I agree that Stern is probably a longshot for you.

Your choice of schools is just fine. Your age is not at all a problem:) However, your chances of admission to your target schools will depend largely on how well your candidacy is presented in all parts of the application package i.e. resume, essays, recos etc. That is, how articulate you are about your goals , how you have handled leadership roles , what are your most significant accomplishments, and what are your hobbies/ pursuits outside of work etc.etc. In short, well- written memorable essays would play a key role in determining your chances of success at B-schools.
