I am a new member at GMATclub and am looking for some advice regarding B school apping
My Profile:
GMAT:740 (50Q, 39V)/ 5AWA
Undergrad: Civil Engineering (India)..university in top 10 tech school in India, GPA 8.6/10
Grad: Engineering Mechanics (US)..university in top 15 engineering school in US, GPA 3.87/4
Work in High Tech industry for 1.5 years now R&D lab (India)..Also a participant of corporate rotational leadership program..Involved in organizational role for corporate events
Six sigma green belt (under training)
Community work: Teach high school mathematics at local institute for deaf
Also active in fundraising as member of alumni association
I am clear about going for an MBA and am seeking corporate strategy or consulting after MBA
Queries: Can I give it a shot with 3 years work ex for Fall 2014? or Is it too early...
Can I try for Cornell advanced MBA program if not the traditional 2 year MBA?
Is my R&D experience of much use? What can I do additionally do to improve my chances (I know it is lame to ask but still looking for pointers)?
I am aiming top 15 B schools in US..Your suggestions will help me plan in better way!!!

3 years of WE is a little light, but not horribly so, and with the 6 sigma certification and a grad degree, you offer something more than the typical applicant. I think you can be competitive considering your very good GMAT score as well. I would focus on what makes you different than others with a similar background and also try to seek opportunities to lead at work and in your community. Leadership and teamwork are big areas of interest for b-school adcoms and you seem to have some elements of both. I think you should have a good chance at top 15 schools--particularly this year with applications down significantly due to the protracted down economy.
