I would like you to evaluate my profile please and if you could guide me on how to improve my profile to increase my acceptance rate.
Indian female
10th - 87%
12th- 83%
B Tech - biotech - 80%
GMAT- yet to be given
work exp= 2 years TCS (software engineer) 1 year HP ( business consultant) till date.
looking for opportunities outside IT industry- NGO or Startups
please suggest how do i improve my profile.

Participated in Hewlett Packard Global Analytics -Ultimate Championship and Esprit (2012).
Worked as a volunteer in Agatsya Foundation and sponsored a child’s education (2012).
Worked as a supporting actor in a bollywood movie- Valentine’s Night. (2011)
Worked with deepashram (run by missionaries of charity brothers of Mother Teresa of Calcutta) in raising funds for mentally and physically challenged children and adults. (2010-2011)
Worked with Sunnay foundation to provide education on etiquettes & hygiene to unprivileged children. (2010)
Worked with Handicapped Children’s Rehabilitation Association and helped the organization to raise funds for the handicapped and underprivileged.(2005-2009)
Awarded the 1st position in poster making competition organized by Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Club, University Youth Club (2005).
Worked as President Coordinator of Jaypee University Youth Club (JYC) in the following clubs :-1) art club 2) cultural club (2006-2008)
Worked with HASTPA (Himalayan adventure sports and tourism promotion association) for the event MTB HIMACHAL- India’s premier mountain cycling event- Worked with event development and event operations (2007).

Awarded 2nd position in Serendipity’06 Inter College Dance Competition organized by St.Bede’s college, Shimla (23 September, 2006).
Won the 1st position in Cambridge sculpture inter school competition and was awarded the best sculptures each year (1999-2003).

You have a very good profile and with a high GMAT score, strong application and some minor adaptations to your profile you would be a very competitive applicant and some world-class programs. However, as you know, you are in a competitive demographic and this means that you have to work harder in order to distinguish yourself from the masses of Indian IT/engineering candidates who apply.
Off the top of my head, I see two areas where you can focus on. The first one is obvious -- your GMAT and making sure that you score in the 720 range (and performing well on all sections of the exam). The next one is to get some experience at a start-up firm or early stage firm. I am not saying that you have to quit your job -- just volunteer to work on the side with a firm (preferably outside of IT services) so you can speak with authority about your goals. Also, this would allow you to secure a recommendation from a different perspective.
I would also aim to get my applications in R1 -- for Indian candidates this does make a difference. You also need to be smart about which schools to apply to and focus on those that welcome Indian applicants.
