Hi,
I have 3 years of IT experience (Software Developer) and my educational background is as follows,

GPA from School : 8.8/10
GPA from 11th,12th : 9.3/10
GPA from Engineering(Computer Science) : 7.4/10

I am planning to take up any of the following 3 courses as am equally attracted to each of them. Please help me in deciding which one would be the better option for me, with the experience am owning.

Project Management (I think, experience is fine but I feel I might get stagnant with only handling projects, or will there be a ladder to climb higher?)
Technology Management (I think, experience is fine, but would like to know how the future will be in this field).
Information Technology Consulting (I think,experience is less, will the field be challenging and what about the future in this).
Leadership, Influence and Power (I think,experience is less, what exactly is in store ?)

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking which courses, which you have defined above, should you study? Or are these professional goals? The first 3 make sense as a professional goal more than a course of study. The last one could be a course of study and a by-product of many different careers, but in and of itself Leadership, Influence, and Power are not really a career.

I address how to develop a career goal (briefly) and the importance of having one as well as the role it should play in both choosing where to apply and how to apply. Obviously, if I wrote a book on the topic, I really can't address it in a forum post. The book is MBA Admission for Smarties: The No-Nonsense Guide to Acceptance at Top MBA Programs. It is available around the world in both paperback and kindle version.

The first 3 make sense as a professional goal more than a course of study. The last one could be a course of study and a by-product of many different careers, but in and of itself Leadership, Influence, and Power are not really a career.

I am confused with the course I am to take for MBA. Since I have experience in IT(3 years) and would like to go back to the same field, taking one of the above mentioned 3 courses would sound meaningful, right? What could be the future like, once am done with MBA, with 'Technology' as the course?

If you say you want to go back to technology, what do you want to do? Do you want to be a product manager? Do you want to consult? do you want be a Chief Information or technology officer for a corporation and manage their IT? Also, realize that what you want to do in the future, will probably require studying different topics, that's the nature of an MBA -- it's not focused on a narrow field or topic.

In my previous post I directed you to different resources. If you don't want to buy my book, at least go to our MBA goals page. The resources there are free. I think you really need to think about why you want an MBA and then choose the MBA program and the course of study wthin that program that will best help you achieve that goal -- obviously also keeping in mind where you are competitive.
