I'm curious as to my chances of acceptance. According to Wharton, every 'admissions decision is made individually'. and they can't provide any idea of your chances. Does anyone have any idea of the accepted-from-waitlist to total-number-on-waitlist ratio for this program? Is the waitlist just a way to let you down easy and encourage you to reapply next year?
Waitlist stats vary enormously from year to year. However, last year according to
Businessweek, "The B-school placed 559 applicant(s) on its wait list. 173 wait-listed applicants were admitted to the semester for which they applied."
That 30% acceptance rate clearly is not merely "a way to let you down easy and encourage you to reapply next year." On the other hand, you're still not in, and Wharton has not wanted any updates or communication from you, although someone told me that they will allow submission updates after the R3 decisions are released -- if you are still on the waitlist. I haven't been able to verify R3 update info.
Good luck!
