Hello Experts - Hope you all are doing good !!
Could somebody please evaluate my profile and let me know of my chances ? I am looking for a one year Full time Residential MBA mainly outside India.
Target Schools - INSEAD, IMD, HEC Paris,IE Business School and Oxford SAID.
31,Indian IT male, Total Experience - 9 years and 10 Months, planning to apply for MBA in 2014 in Round 3 or Round 4 (I am also OK with applying in 2015 if things do not go as planned)
Graduation - 84.2% - Stood first in my college and 7th Rank in the University.
12th - 94.5%
10th - 86.6%
GMAT - Planning to appear in December (Targeting score around 700)
Work experience
- Working with Oracle Consulting with 9 years and 10 months experience.
- Have more than 3 years work experience managing a team of more than 12 people.
- Have 2.8 years of International work experience working in United Kingdom and USA.
Awards and Accolades
Work -
- My current project is awarded the best project award for H2(2012- 2013) with the best customer rating of 10/10.
- Successfully managed multiple upgrade projects in my previous company which in turn generated repeat business(more than $80,000) from the same client.
- Won Multiple awards from the customer for successfully completing multiple payroll projects on time with less than 1% issues.
School/College -
- Awarded the outstanding student of the year award for the outgoing batch of my class.
- Won multiple Paper presentation awards.
- Scored 100% in my Higher Secondary School Maths and 95% in my College.
- Took French as my second language in my Higher secondary school and scored 95%.
Extra-Curricular Activities
- Have been a part of Organization's Employee club Team that organizes fests, games events, fund raising, CSRs, etc.
- Sponsoring a Child
Post MBA Goals - I plan to go into Financial services Industry or a Management Consulting (I am basically looking to switch my industry post MBA from IT to something like Management consulting or Financial Services)
Please do guide me if there are some other extra curricular activities that I should take to improve my chances.Also kindly let me know whether my age could be a factor which could deter my chances of getting selected into schools as per my choice.

Academic Capacity: You have good GPA. You have secured first rank in college and 7th rank in the university which testifies to your academic potential. However, you still need to conquer GMAT .
Work Experience: You have almost 10 years of work experience which makes you more suitable for an EMBA program than for an MBA. You have won various awards and accolades at work which makes me assume you will have tons of accomplishments stories to share in your essays.
Leadership Responsibilities : You are managing a team of 12 people for the last three years, so I am sure you have had many opportunities to demonstrate your leadership skills .
International Experience: Good .You have 2.8 years of International work experience .
Extra-Curricular Activities/Community Service - You have had some involvement in ECs. (Have been a part of Organization's Employee club Team that organizes fests, games events, fund raising, CSRs, etc. - Sponsoring a Child )

Since you are aware that age factor may be a deterrent for you, I am not sure why are you further delaying it to R-3-4 ( most competitive rounds) or even 2015. Sorry for being so blunt.

The main reason I am looking for an MBA is because I am looking to change my career from Technology consulting to Management Consulting or Financial Services.
Also, I am targeting only one year courses as I do not want to stay away from Job market for long. As I am taking my GMAT during the month of December, by the time I am done with my essays, I assume most colleges will be done with their Round 1 and 2 and that is why I am targeting Rounds 3 and 4.
The main reason I am looking for an MBA is because I am looking to change my career from Technology consulting to Management Consulting or Financial Services.
