1. I currently work at a major aerospace company. I joined the company through its two-year business rotation program and now I work as a financial analyst in the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) group. I have been working here for little over three years. Prior to my current company, I worked part-time at a small tax consulting company providing state tax incentives to various businesses while attending college. Prior to attending undergrad, I served in US Marine Corps for four-years as a supply logistics specialist and did two tours in Iraq.
2. My highest GMAT score is 630 (Q46/V31); I’ve taken the GMAT twice and my first score is my highest.
3. I attended USC Marshall and my GPA is 3.5. My GPA reflects my last two-years of undergraduate studies; the first two-years were spent at a local community college before transferring to USC (had 4.0 GPA). My major was in business administration with emphasis on business economics; I graduated in 2010.
4. I served in my church’s volunteer/community service program for autistic children for five years helping the kids adapt to local community by being involved in various outdoor and sightseeing activities, as well as assisting the children in reading and writing. At USC, I was involved in a student club for accounting and business students attending various networking and career events. I was working part-time during my college years so I did not have much free time to be heavily involved in other activities.
5. No certifications
6. I am applying to USC’s full-time program and UCLA’s part-time program. I would like to know if I should add any other schools as stretch options. I am getting married next year and I wish to stay local, but if I have a chance to attend a great MBA program somewhere else, then I might consider them. I am applying to part-time program for UCLA since my GMAT score is low and I believe UCLA’s part-time program will still be a good option for me since they allow you to be involved in internships and recruiting events.
7. I plan to apply for Round 1 to the two schools mentioned above for 2013-14.
8. My current plan is to do a career change into marketing and getting into a brand management or a product marketing role for CPG/high-tech company.
