Hi Guys - I am in a bit of a dilemma, and was hoping to get some input on a potential career change prior to my MBA...
I currently work as a Senior Analyst within Supply Chain with a focus on Inventory Management at a Fortune 500 company, and we are merging with another Fortune 500 company. I may have the opportunity in 2014 to work on some of the integration projects in terms of system selection, testing and implementation. I have been with the company for a 1 year and 8 months.
I also recently received an offer to work for Accenture as a Management Consultant starting in mid-to-late January with a focus on Operations Optimization in retail and manufacturing companies.
I want to start my MBA in Fall 2015,
so is one of these jobs more likely to help me in my B-School applications than the other? I know consulting is highly-valued, but part of me feels the integration work could be useful for essay purposes. Also, if I were to move to Accenture, I would have roughly 9-10 months experience before applying, and about 1.5 years experience in consulting at matriculation - is that enough?
Really torn about what to do, and if my peers on this site feel one opportunity increases my chances at top-tier MBA, that would play a big factor in my decision.
FYI, ideally I would like to use a top-tier MBA to transition to banking, but I realize that perhaps both of these opportunities set up my essays for a consulting path...
