Well you are definitely right about that! Stanford is super competitive. I feel though that your 710 should be good enough. I would only recommend a retake if you are sure you can get 20 more points or more in case of a retake. The thing is, I think once you get 710, it's not as if 10 or 20 points will magically get you into Stanford.
That will happen on the basis of the rest of your profile, and of course, your essays. You do need that above 700 score to have that shot. But since you already have that, you might be better served by working on other things (like starting to think about the essays NOW already). Since Stanford is a long shot even for those with the best profiles, it's probably not a bad idea to think about what other schools might ALSO help you reach your goals,
