HI Linda,
I got into both programs, and now I am choosing between the two. My career goal is still pretty vague, but i know that one reason for me to pursue an MBA is for a career change. I want to get into marketing/brand management, hopefully in Asia, after my MBA.
I currently work in the bay area w/ more my work function more focused on internal finance, and going to berkeley would be pretty convenient for me. However, I went to berkeley for my undergrad, and I personally think that going to a different school might provide me with different experience and perspective. If I were to go to Haas, I plan to switch to full time so that I can still finish my MBA in 2 years.
As for INSEAD, my plan is to study in SGP because my focus will be in Asia, and do an exchange in France for one period. However, I understand that INSEAD is strong in Consulting and probably i-banking, but that is not really in line with what i want to do. Is INSEAD strong in marketing? Is one year MBA really enough for a person who wants a career switch?
If I want to work for an int'l consumer product company in Asia (possibly in the Greater China area) and focus on brand management, which school will be better for this career path? Which school will open up more opportunities in this field?
Thanks a lot.
