Hi fnatta,
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your profile and think you have a strong background for these schools. I reviewed your profile similar to when I worked in admissions.
First, I would consider adding in some top 10 programs. I think you are underestimating your background
From a career standpoint, you have gained strong exposure at a big 4, not to mention across several prominent industries such as finance and consulting. Additionally, your academic background is in the competitive range for these schools and displays your ability to handle the rigorous curriculum. Believe it or not, but a 680 GMAT score is strong enough to get a candidate into the top 10 US programs. We witnessed it the last few years with Wharton, HBS and Stanford.
Regardless of the opinions you receive from forums, please apply to the top ranked programs and do not underestimate the professional and academic background you possess. I find that 90% of top-tier candidates I work with tend to "opt-out" of the application process as they feel that they do not stand a chance with top tier programs. Candidates do this before the school can even receive their application. Regardless of where you fall with your competition, let the top-tier school make the ultimate decision on your candidacy. Most candidates share with me how they are pleasantly surprised when they are accepted and never thought they stood a chance in top tier programs.
Please let us know if we could be of further help. We believe in helping candidates with their applications but saving their finances for business school.
We wish you the best in your MBA journey.
Yours truly,
Realistic Sue
